Until I'yard old and grayness, I will always champion the Warriors serial as one of my best favorites, despite the fact that the first book wasn't published until I was 23 and they are supposedly written for 8-twelvemonth-olds.If you aren't familiar, the Warriors books follow four clans of what we would call feral cats that boxing each other, and sometimes work together towards mutual enemies (two-legs, dogs, rogue cats, etc.). The first curvation begins when a kittypet (house cat) is recruited into Thunderclan by their leader, Bluestar, subsequently getting himself in a predicament due to his marvel leading him out of his abode and into the untamed forest. It takes a long time for the clan to have him equally a true warrior (and some never do), and the term "kittypet" is thrown around like the harshest of all slurs. Fireheart (as he is come to be known) does railroad train to become a Warrior, however, and by the end of the fifth volume, he is Bluestar'due south deputy and chief consultant.
The Darkest Hr is the final chapter in the offset story arch of the Warriors. It sees our primary protagonist, Fireheart, facing everything he has feared, too as dreamed, all at in one case, in a serious shitstorm that he has to navigate non just for himself, but for all of Thunderclan as well. A final battle with Tigerstar turns out very unexpectedly, and a new menace makes itself known in the forest.
The writing of Erin Hunter (who is actually four different authors writing together) is sublime. The fights betwixt cats are harsh and brutal (the amount of violence at times makes me question how these books could exist for small children) and the characterization of the clan cats is then deeply intricate and believable that you lot tin can't help but care for them on an intense, emotional level.
Later on finishing The Darkest Hour, I institute myself crushed that my time with Fireheart had ended (the other archs deal with different cats), but I know that he is a character that has forever left a mark on my literary soul.
The Warriors serial is a stiff reminder that one should NEVER gauge a book by it'southward classification in the library/bookstore.

This was a quick, entertaining and dramatic read. Despite the number of pages, I was still able to cease information technology in a brusk time. I discover it interesting that this series is cowritten by a group of female authors who get by the pseudonym Erin Hunter. With four writers in the group, it certainly allows them to be prolific. There is more violence, danger, and treachery in this volume than I expected, but with the sheer number of books, I suppose the authors have to keep the audience'due south attention somehow.

Fireheart, Graystripe and Ravenpaw watched helplessly as Stonefur was being torn autonomously as he refused to impale Graystripe'due south kits, to Graystripe's relief his kits were spared but not for long unless they are saved. Tigerstar the founder of Tigerclan gave Firestar and Tallstar an offer but with they deny and instead fabricated a clan called Lionclan, Firestar thought that a battle was going to happen just like what Bluestar warned him but with a glimmer of a eye Tigerstar's plan backfired. Unfortunately with the faller of one leads to a ambition of another as Scourge the leader of Blood clan the backbone of Tiger clan intends to drive every clan out of the forest that was ruled by star clan. Firestar knew he had to practise something or the all will have to leave the forest that was there by all rights and that's when Bluestar'due south words all fabricated sense to him, then with the future all the clans of the forest in his paws he gathers all the clans and leads them in battle with Tiger clan. During the battle Firestar fought the Blood clan leader simply and then Scourge escaped, Firestar who was looking for Scourge found out that Whitestorm was on the brink of being reunited with Bluestar. At showtime it looked like Lion clan was winning Tiger clan only then in the drop of a lid things changed and Scourge had the upper manus in the battle, then Firestar spotted Scourge and without a warning Scourge bit in to his shoulders and landed a accident to Firestar's head. Will Firestar live on and fight or will Firestar see his plan get torn apart then die? Find out!!!!
This is one of the book where what you expectation is not realty and once you offset reading you lot can never tear your eyes of it. I like this book equally it shows that no matter what your roots you still will go out a peachy legacy behind and it volition be remembered till the stop of time. And and then concludes my reread of the original Warrior series. This book still makes me cry. The commencement, the heart, the terminate! I simply have such a deep, abiding honey for these characters, even though they are cats. Annihilation fifty-fifty remotely related to Graystripe having emotions, or his friendship with Firestar? Definitely crying.

4 will become two. Lion and tiger will meet in battle, and blood will dominion the forest. And so concludes my reread of the original Warrior series. This book still makes me weep. The beginning, the middle, the end! I only accept such a deep, constant love for these characters, even though they are cats. Anything even remotely related to Graystripe having emotions, or his friendship with Firestar? Definitely crying.
Also, I'1000 adequately sure that my love for prophecies in my books started with this serial. I also love the inclusion of characters with physical differences, disabilities, and the otherness of kittypets. Way more than inclusive than some of the developed fare I've read.
I will always requite these books 5 stars, even though reading them equally an developed, I recognize more flaws with the books. The writing style is incredibly unproblematic, and does a lot of over-explaining of things. Although for the historic period they are meant for, I don't necessarily think that it's a bad thing because there are also explorations of themes that aren't as spelled out. It's a fine balance of ensuring agreement for the youngest readers but not talking down to them, and while information technology may lean more towards the bad side of overexplaining, I know I never felt like the books were likewise elementary or childish for me (except in loftier school when I felt super weird for still reading books focused on animals, merely that was a me issue 😂)
Anyhow, super nostalgic reread for me, and it even so holds upward for me!

A disappointing catastrophe to an otherwise surprisingly poignant series.I'm wondering if a new author joined the circle of Erin Hunter when this book came along. It felt disconnected, peradventure rushed, and lacked the depth and substance of character that makes the previous five books so captivating. There were too some painfully obvious, heavy-handed christianity themes present in this book that might not have been and so distracting had the rest of information technology been a gratifying feel - but it wasn't. The unabridged series congenital up to a last showdown between Firestar and Tigerstar that never even happens. Instead, they introduce Scourge once during the prologue, for mayhap a folio, and the next time we see him he kills Tigerstar in one fell accident. I idea I could accept this, thinking maybe this was an in for an even deadlier and scarier villain, but instead Scourge dies too just a few chapters afterward. This useless character served as a deus ex machina to rapidly write off Tigerstar's ix lives, as if the author(s) couldn't figure how else to exercise information technology.
Anticlimactic and very Hollywood - basically the book tin be summed up every bit "Firestar and his warriors take back the woods and live happily always after." Information technology'south especially frustrating because the buildup was great - nosotros had this running villain the readers grew to despise, and whom was and so manipulative it seemed impossible to defeat him or outwit him at any turn. I tin't understand why the arc was wrapped upwardly and then easily. Despite a shallow and abrupt ending, the residuum of the series was never something I expected out of books about talking cats; fingers crossed that the next generation of books handles its conflicts a piffling meliorate.

...more thanThis time it was Darkstripe'south turn to prove where his loyalties lie. In the end, with no one as he attacked his former leader and left TigerClan in reaction to Tigerstar's death
An amazing ending to the book and not what you would expect equally BloodClan came in the way - curtsy of Tigerstar. In the cease all 4 Clans had to come together to defeat BloodClan who had alleged the woods theirs, not RiverClan and ShadowClan against WindClan and ThunderClan like I'yard sure anybody thought it was going to be.This fourth dimension it was Darkstripe's turn to prove where his loyalties prevarication. In the cease, with no ane as he attacked his former leader and left TigerClan in reaction to Tigerstar's expiry. Feeding an apprentice death berries is on the same level equally Tigerstar. I've read these before (as I've previously mentioned) but I cannot remember what Darkstripe did and I was disgusted every bit much every bit I was at the offset time.
Bluestar's prophecy was clear, I think, and Firestar got it equally soon as Tigerstar appear RiverClan and ShadowClan uniting. I remember Firestar meeting Mistyfoot most the river one day was very of import because she told him most all the visits Tigerstar had been paying to Leopardstar. Although he didn't get the bit about him having to merge with WindClan for a while.
The Clan all teaming up against a treat really is something because information technology's said to accept never happened earlier and it just shows what the Clans volition do to protect their home. They are true warriors and they will not be driven out from it. It was admittedly amazing but I cannot understand how Tigerstar lost all of those lives straight abroad, and Fireheart didn't - it was a pregnant point because Scourge would have then been made of StarClan's existence therefore it would not accept been a weakness anymore. I think it'southward because the wounds were different and blood was coming out as well fast for Tigerstar to heal. I kind of did feel sorry for him but I kind of never. I felt lamentable for him because no true cat should have died similar that - so quickly and then effortlessly but then again I didn't considering of all the things he had done in his life.
I forgot to mention that nosotros saw some new things in this book and it was every bit about as refreshing as the offset volume. Nosotros had a glimpse inside StarClan and reading about all the warriors who had died as and so deplorable. At least the concluding book wasn't the last time we would read about Bluestar. The 9 ceremonies was splendid. Who knew getting lives would hurt? and the naming ceremony for Lostface (at present Brightheart). Astonishing.
Whitestorm dying was horrible, and information technology was fifty-fifty worse considering Firestar had mentioned he wouldn't know what to do if he didn't come up back from battle. Whitestorm was a fine warrior, a actually fine warrior and I even liked him every bit a fictional character. I think him being a older cat made me call up he should have been deputy and then Firestar but I know Firestar is a bang-up selection. If Whitestorm chose Firestar equally leader then he would have been made leader then, but we'll never know and it didn't work out like that anyway.
I thought the first series great and I'chiliad willing to move on to the second (and if I get enough money, hopefully third).

The intended audience of this book is Teenagers and preteens that love fantasy.
The book begins with the leader of Thunderclan, Bluestar, dying. Every bit her deputy, Fireheart becomes the new leader of the clan. Oh past the way, these are all cats. Yes, this book is dissimilar from others. In this book, humans are called twolegs and cats talk to each other. Information technology's an interesting subject, considering you don't usually see a book with just cats and nix else that talks. In other books, you might detect a sorcerer or something talking to cats, but not ordinarily just cats talking. Anyway, back to the book. The four clans of the forest have had some trouble with fires, flooding, and a pack of dogs, and now an even bigger problem emerges. Tigerstar,(the antagonist) known throughout Thunderclan for his treachary, has become the new leader of shadowclan, and wants to "unite" the forest nether his dominion. Fireheart, now Firestar, must make sure that he doesn't. Firestar is the protagonist, and only wants to keep the peace of the clans. Firestar discovers Tigerstars plot right when he is about to tell the rest of the clans about Tigerstar's treachary. He never gets a take chances though because the gathering ends too soon. Afterwards a serial of battles and other problems, Tigerstar eventually brings in Bloodclan, a band of evil cat that kill Tigerstar and effort to take the forest for themselves. Firestar must and then find a way to stop them. He somewhen meets them in intense boxing.
Those battle scenes were something I liked virtually this volume. For example, on page 171, it says "slipping to i side, he raked his claws down Darkstripe's side, and followed up with a blow to his back leg as the nighttime warrior crashed past him." Another example on folio 305 was this- "His claws raked along Scourge's side and he dodged a blow to his head like the one that had claimed his first life."
I also liked how well the author uses sensory details and give-and-take choices. I found myself thinking I was in the forest stalking a mouse more than once.
I believe that one theme of this book is that a lust for power often leads to disaster. I loved this book. I could barely put it down. I spent hours sitting on the burrow reading it because it was and so well written and drew me in. I recommend information technology to anyone who loves fantasy, Or cats. ...more
I can make a text-to-cocky Connexion to this book. In the book Firestar has to make a difficult choice. He has to chose who he would pick as deputy. He had to option betwean friendship and responcability. This helps me sympathize how Firestar felt in this pozition. Your friends or your responceability.
This book is action packed. There are huge amounts of activity and take a chance. It makes this book nigh believeable. I cant read a volume when it has not mutch action. This volume I couldn't put downward. I would recomend this book to people of all ages. This book I would give five stars.
